Community Calendar Freedom 5K Walk, Run, or Bycycle

SATURDAY, JULY 4
FAIRMONT - There will be a 4th of July "Freedom 5K Walk, Run, or Bicycle" event at the Fairmont National Guard Armory, in Fairmont.  A pancake breakfast will be from 8 to 11AM with the Color Dash starting at 9:30AM. Half of the cost of the event goes to Martin County "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon".  You can pre-register at CD5K.com


Kingdom Initiative

ST PAUL - Kingdom Initiative is a collective gathering of people to pray at the Capital Building of the State in which you live.  The Minnesota's Kingdome Initiative will take place at the State Capital, in St. Paul, on Saturday, July 4 at 12Noon.  To find out more you can go to kingdominitiative.org.

Vacation Bible School

MONDAY - FRIDAY, JULY 6 - 10
ELMORE - Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, will have their Day Camp Vacation Bible School, Monday through Friday, July 6 through 10, for children currently in grades kindergarten to 5th grade from 9 to 3PM.  Preschool program for ages 3 to 5 will be from 9AM to noon.


Outstanding Senior Citizen

TUESDAY, JULY 7
BLUE EARTH - Nominations are now being received for the 2015 Outstanding Senior Citizen Award for Faribault County.  Senior citizens must be 70 by June 1st and will be honored at the Faribault County Fair in Blue Earth on July 22.  Official nomination forms are available by contacting Lorraine Haugland at 507-294-3663 or by going to mnstate.org and click on the "Recognition Programs" link at the bottom of the page. The deadline is July 7.


Madelia Park Days

SCRUB Run/Walk 5K

FOREST CITY - 'Operation LZ', an event to welcome home all Vietnam Veterans, will be held beginning Wednesday, August 26 through Saturday, August 30.  There will be a number of events held at Heritage Park, in Forest City, including a Tribute, Vietnam Traveling Wall, Govenor Terry Branstad and much more. ALBERT LEA - The Salvation Army, which is located at 302 Court Street in Albert Lea, is serving lunch for students and their families each Monday through Friday, through August 28, from 11:30 to 12:30PM. 

MANKATO - The city of Mankato will soon begin road contruction in the area of Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato, starting May 11. The only way to access the Bethel Baptist Church parking lot will be from the west end of Balcerzak, which is off Warren, through a temporary entrance. If you have questions you may call the church at 507-345-4011.

ALBERT LEA - Crossroads Church in Albert Lea, is in need of volunteers for their program, "Elevate", which is a ministry to 5th, 6th and 7th grade students. If you would like more information you can call Marc Castro at 507-377-3276.

ALBERT LEA - Assembly of God Church, in Albert Lea will host Ruby's Pantry Food Distribution the First Saturday of each month from 10AM to 12noon. The church is located at 1540 South Shore Drive in Albert Lea.

MANKATO - Volunteer Drivers are needed for the Meals on Wheels Program to help deliver hot meals to seniors and persons with disabilities in the Mankato community. You may contact Sally at 507-340-3162 or Vanessa at 866-974-0284.

BUFFALO CENTER - There will be a Blue Grass and Gospel Jam every 2nd Thursday of the month, from 6 to 9PM at the Heritage Town Center, located on Highway 9 west of the fire station in Buffalo Center. A lunch will be served by the Buffalo Center Historical Society.


EAST CHAIN - Ruby's Pantry will distribute food in East Chain on the 4th Saturday of every month from 10AM to 12noon at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church which is located at 507 280th Avenue in East Chain
