Community Calendar Celebrate the Gift

FRIDAY - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2 - 4
WASECA - Christ Community Church, in Waseca, will host a women's Christmas candlelight dinner, "Celebrate the Gift" Friday through Sunday, December 2 through 4.  The evening begins at 6PM with hot cider and table viewing, followed by dinner at 6:30.  You may call the church at 507-835-2235 for tickets or information on hosting a table.

ALGONA - Grace Church, in Algona, is a Relay Center for Operation Christmas Child from November 14 through 21.  Drop off times for the gift-filled shoeboxes can be obtained by contacting the church at 515-295-5668.

SOUTHERN MINNESOTA - Jesus Food has received an urgent request to supply food to Haiti due to losses incurred by Hurricane Matthew.  Immediate needs are fundraising as well as volunteers to host food packs.  You can contact Tim Stromer at 507-469-4357.

BLUE EARTH - Habitat for Humanity has started a fundraising and awareness campaign, 'Get on the BEAM', which provides churches, VBS groups, businesses, or any public place an actual 2' by 4' beam to display.  When people donate any amount of money in the cup provided, they can sign their name on the beam and the beam will then be used in the construction of a 'Habitat' home.  For more information you can call Staci at 507-526-2500.

MANKATO - Mankato's nonprofit, LEEP (Leisure Education for Exceptional People), is looking for volunteer coaches for their Unified teams, which combines athletes with and without disabilities on the same team. NEW ULM - Community and Seniors Together (CAST) will host a low-impact Chair Workout Class on Tuesdays from 10 to 11AM in room 112 of the Community Center in New Ulm.

MANKATO - Celebrate Recovery meets each Tuesday evening beginning with a meal served from 5 to 6PM at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato.

HUNTLEY - The Huntley Community Cookbook, a collaborative effort between the Community Covenant Church and Huntley Cafe, is now available. The cookbook includes recipes, vintage photographs, faith stories, and a brief history of the Huntley Community.  You may purchase yours at the Huntley Cafe or by contacting the church at 507-866-4646.

WELLS/BLUE EARTH - A Caregiver Coffee meets every 3rd Tuesday at 10AM at the United Methodist Church in Wells and at 3:15 at the Ag Center Conference Room in Blue Earth. For more information you can contact Interfaith Caregivers at 507-526-4684.

FAIRMONT - Fairmont Community Bible Study evening group, will be holding a bible study in the book of Matthew at Grace Lutheran Church.  The study starts at 7PM on Monday, September 12th and goes through Monday, December 12th.  The bible study will resume on Monday, January 9th through Monday,  April 10th.

FAIRMONT/BLUE EARTH - Interfaith Caregivers offer two Parkinson's Support Groups each month. The Fairmont group meets the last Thursday of the month at 10:30 at Grace Lutheran Church and the Blue Earth group gather at the Ag Center Conference Room every 3rd Wednesday at 1:30PM.

BLUE EARTH - Silver Sneakers, excercise for seniors, meets at 10AM each Monday and Wednesday at the Fitness Center in Blue Earth.  For more information or to register you can call Michelle at 507-526-3376.

ALBERT LEA - Ruby's Pantry Food Distribution is held at the Assemby of God Church in Albert Lea on the 1st Saturday of each month.  Doors open at 9:30 and distribution is from 10 to 11:30AM.

NORTH MANKATO - Grandparents and relatives raising children meet the 2nd Thursday of every month at New Creation World Outreach Church in North Mankato from 6 to 7:30PM. A family style meal is served as well as a free daycare provided. You can contact Kelijo (Kelly Jo) at 507-380-7210 to let them know you will be attending so the meal and daycare can be planned.
