I made a decision to give my life to the Lord when I was eight years old, after an evangelistic meeting at our church. My mother and I knelt beside my bed, and I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. During my teens and early twenties I strayed from the Lord, always knowing, however, He was there. At the age of 26 I rededicated my life to the Lord, and though life has had its ups and downs, I have steadily grown in my walk with Him.

I’ve been a Minnesota native for most of my life, moving to Fairmont with my family in 1968. I have wonderful memories of my early years, spending time with friends and family. Throughout high school I was very involved in sports and during the summers, spent many hours with friends on the Fairmont lakes fishing and water skiing.

After high school I spent some time in college and vocational school. I worked in Fairmont for about 12 years, mainly in the office supply business, before going back to college to pursue my bachelor’s degree.

While in college, I started in radio as a weekend announcer for KJLY. After getting married to my beautiful wife, Gertrude in 1990, and graduating from college in 1993, the Lord moved us to Eagle Grove, IA where I was Operations Manager for seven years at KJYL. In August of 2000 we loaded up our five children, Adeline, Hans, Annika, Eliana, and Haakon, and two large moving trucks, and trekked to northern Lower Michigan, where I spent about three years as Program Director for Northern Christian Radio in Gaylord. In February of 2003, God called my family and I back to southern Minnesota to KJLY, where my radio career first began.

Through the years of being an on-air announcer, I have come to realize more and more the importance of being a friend and companion to those who tune in. Every day, God allows me an opportunity to encourage a single parent, to connect with someone going through a difficult situation, or to bring joy and peace to a life otherwise turned upside down. As we experience life together, I want you to know you always have a friend in Christ, and in me. We serve an all-powerful God, who has promised that,

“He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.”

Philippians 4:19

God has given each of gifts to use for His glory. We are His ambassadors, and we need to be doing Kingdom work. May God bless you as you shine your light for Christ!
